Social+ Ocean Bound Plastic

The new Social+ Ocean Bound Plastic standard has been published. This is an innovative certification that expands the assessment of OBP (Ocean Bound Plastic) supply chains by including, for the first time, not only environmental impacts but also social impacts.

Zero Plastic Ocean is the certification body that developed the standard. Its goal is to ensure greater transparency, accountability, and protection for the people involved in collecting marine plastic.

This project is the result of a collaboration involving The Good Idea and Rebrain, together with international companies such as IKEA. The shared objective is to strengthen traceability and ensure respect for working conditions throughout the entire supply chain.

The Social+ OBP standard introduces a new level of evaluation. It also places focus on marine plastic collectors, who play a crucial role but are often invisible within global supply chains.

The Good Idea is also mentioned as part of the Standard Development Committee. This represents a significant recognition of its active contribution to defining more fair and sustainable international standards.

This project is an important story to share with clients and partners, as well as within the global contexts where The Good Idea operates. It further strengthens its commitment to concrete and inclusive sustainability.
